Warragul PumpTrack 3D Design

When a contractor needed to convert a 2D pump track concept into a 3D model ready for construction and GPS site setout, our team stepped in to build the design collaboratively with the client from the ground up. Working through grading, roller heights and drainage on a small, tightly interlinked site in Warragul, the project needed close attention to detail as one change flowed through every connected section of track.

THE CHALLENGE

With no previous pump track designs to draw on, the team had to work through trial and error to get grading and drainage precise on a tightly linked track. Due to the pads and batters all being connected back into each other, every element of the design had to be locked in before work could progress on any single section, rather than tackling each part in isolation.

OUR APPROACH

We gathered all the site information up front rather than attacking each section individually, given how closely the track, pads and batters interacted with one another. During the design, chainages were raised by 300mm on the fly to manage live change, and the model was sent for a flood impact assessment at 80% complete while we finished the remaining detail. The client was engaged weekly with screenshots to confirm the model matched their vision.

THE SOLUTION

We delivered a completed 3D model within the client’s required timeline, ready to hand over to the contractor for GPS site setout. It was the first project of its kind our team had tackled, and the result was one we were proud of: a workable, buildable model that met every design requirement despite the site’s complexity. The client was very happy with the outcome, and it has led to further work together.

Key Outcomes

What we delivered

Converted a 2D concept into a 3D model ready for GPS site setout
Managed live design changes, including a 300mm drainage adjustment, without delaying the project
Delivered on the client’s required timeline despite a tightly interconnected, complex site
Led to further work with the client following successful delivery
